چکیده

Leg Length Discrepancy (LLD) is a critical problem which not only impacts the quality of life but also causes other physical ailments such as limping and severe back pain. Most people had non-negligible difference in length their two legs, 0.1% population with differences 20 mm or more are diagnosed limb length. The Ilizarov external fixator commonly used treating LLD conventional therapeutic equipment, often serious complications that cannot be prevented. Therefore, intramedullary leg-lengthening treatment has become popular distraction osteogenesis to eliminate extracorporeal surgery. This paper presents study on design optimization novel electromagnetic-driven Intramedullary Skeletal Distraction Robot (ISDR) robust mechanical stiffness surplus electromagnetic driving force. Compared PRECICE, split structure ISDR eases optimal manufacturing difficulties strengthen stiffness, configuration allows improving force by adjusting Permanent Magnet Brushless Direct Current (PMBLDC) motor parameters. ISDR, implanted medullary cavity, Von-Mises stress 952.15 MPa, first mode natural frequency 28.823 Hz indicating it can withstand load during walking gait phases. On hand, encounters resistance from muscle fibers, an average torque 9 Nmm ensures its distraction. Based results, proven secure reliable after treatment, significantly reduce lifestyle disruption medical complications.

Intramedullary leg lengthening with a motorized nail

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE In the last decade, intramedullary limb lengthening has become a viable alternative to traditional external systems. We retrospectively analyzed the use of an intramedullary motorized nail (Fitbone) in a consecutive series of 32 patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS During the period September 2006 to December 2008, 32 consecutive patients with a median age of 17 (IQR: 15-19) ...

Leg lengthening over an intramedullary nail.

Distraction osteogenesis is widely used for leg lengthening, but often requires a long period of external fixation which carries risks of pin-track sepsis, malalignment, stiffness of the joint and late fracture of the regenerate. We present the results of 20 cases in which, in an attempt to reduce the rate of complications, a combination of external fixation and intramedullary nailing was used....

Tibial lengthening over an intramedullary nail.

BACKGROUND Long-term application of an external fixator to treat leg-length discrepancy and short stature often causes complications, such as pin-tract infection or loss of range of motion at the knee or ankle (or both). Prolonged fixator use also interferes with the activities of daily living. To minimize such problems, we have combined intramedullary nailing with external fixation. Using this...

Femoral lengthening with a motorized intramedullary nail

PURPOSE We assessed whether an intramedullary lengthening device would reduce the problems normally associated with the external fixation technique. We also wanted to determine whether it is a reliable construct for limb lengthening and deformity correction in the femur. PATIENTS AND METHODS We conducted a matched-pair comparison of 30 femoral lengthenings, 15 with a motorized intramedullary ...

The intramedullary elongation nail for femoral lengthening.

We have analysed the results of 24 femoral lengthenings in 23 patients operated on between 1993 and 2000, using a gradual elongation intramedullary nail (Albizzia). Of the 23 patients, 22 had femoral deficiency and one was of short stature. Their mean age was 16.9 years. Technical difficulties encountered during the procedure were mild or moderate in 18 femora and severe in six femora. Distract...
